Your world can change in a moment

http://www.glowpunk.com/

In a single moment everything can change, but not the world that takes time.

After a life changing incident the world around you continues as before, but your perspective usually changes dramatically.  The trees where you live continue to grow. There is still traffic on the streets when you wish there wasn't and your heart still beats ( perhaps a little faster than before) to keep you alive and conscious. How you use this new perspective and level of consciousness is very important. You can either glow and light up the world around you or fade into the shadows.

Your kids are learning from you! What are they learning?

In the park today I saw two parents of obviously different ethnic backgrounds. They were on bicycles both carrying children in child seats on the back of their respective bikes. The children were obviously of different ethnic backgrounds to each other. The parents were engaged in happy conversation unaware of the actions of the children they were carrying around the park. It was wonderful to see that race was not an issue. We could learn a lot from these kids.

The children were glowing. As the bikes drifted closer to eachother the children reached out to hold hands with eachother and make contact. They wanted to connect. Their parents had set a wonderful example. Ethnic background was unimportant and was not an issue. What invisible learned traits are you going to pass on to your children? Are they traits you want to perpetuate?

Change The Truth

www.glowpunk.com

Every day is different from the last and today is going to be different too. If you try to remain the same or do not remain flexible you will fail to glow at your brightest. You will remain stationary while the whole universe around you changes. Embrace change. Expect change. Instigate change. After all, change is the only constant. Initially it will be difficult, but like all things with practice it can become second nature. With a little bit of practice you can be a glower.

Why do people have any fixed views? It seems obvious that we are only working on information compiled by those before us. There is no right and wrong. Only what society over time has decided works best for society. There are no Absolutes. There is no real 'Truth.' There are only belief systems that are based on little more than the belief systems of generations of sheepish followers and yes men.

So decide what you believe in and create your own truth. What are you going to change today? Remember you may die soon so you may not have much time.

www.glowpunk.com Selling your ass

http://www.glowpunk.com/

Why put a ceiling on your potential or your income. Why be a slave to the corporate machine? You study all your life and then you settle for a job that pays you to live a life of mediocrity until you are two old and too conditioned to change to see that your spirit has been crushed. Be your own boss asap! Glow a little!

The worst that can happen is that you will fail dramatically, loose everything you own, and end up living on the streets selling your ass for your next fix of crack. It is eithertake a chance and possibly succeed or you continue to sell your ass to your boss like a corporate whore.

You’ll be dead soon! Cease the day. ha ha!

www.glowpunk.com ...Glow and Live

Glowpunk

http://www.glowpunk.com/

Dear World,

This isn’t just about surfing,
There is no doubt about it surfing has become an addiction for many ‘glowers.’ And I have just recently taken up the habit. Wow where has the former me gone. I find myself continuously thinking about hitting the road to the waves. The emotions involved are akin to those involved with those I feel when I am chasing a girl.

The thing is I'm not really that good. I appear to be picking it up pretty quick in relation to others of similar experience, but I have so much more to learn. The beauty about surfing for me is the close connection you feel with nature and the sheer simplicity of the apparatus required to play. A board and a wave, how simple can a sport be? How natural!

At first I was frustrated with the 'quality' of the waves that I seemed to draw to the beaches where I surfed. In my head I felt like a dissatisfied customer who was unhappy with the waves, as I would be unhappy with a faulty television. I found that I was complaining about the waves as if they were not up to ‘industry standard.’ But there is no standard. I soon realized waves were as irregular and as individual as you or I.

After a wave or ten I realized that these waves were not being genetically modified or mass produced to appeal to the customer. These waves were as irregular or as regular as ‘Mother Nature’ intended them to be. In a moment of clarity whilst riding a wave I realized that there is no mathematical equation more appealing to ‘glowers’ than those that are least exact, most irregular and most unpredictable.

Like waves we too are irregular, slightly skewed, and vary in dimension and depth. I truly believe that the reason that surfing can hold the attention of so many for so long is because as humans, the varying characteristics of waves are completely in tune with our internal biological equations. Perhaps the chaos theory associated with waves and seemingly irregular things is in sequence, with the human spirit and body.

Is an affinity with nature the secret to life? Is chasing an affinity with nature the one worth while endeavor? Will surfing allow me and you to transcend this manufactured existence? Modern living has evolved far faster then our genes and natural bio-rhythms have. Only when in contact with nature are we really living?

I put it to you that our bodies are totally out of sync with our everyday environment. We humans are the square peg in the round hole that is our world.

Start smashing off the shackles of modern living and begin to think. You get one stab at this life fellow glowers. Are you going to chase the Jones's? School, college, year traveling abroad, job, car, partner, house, mortgage, pension, then wish you lived your life differently as you lie in your hospital bed.

A simple question.
What would you rather be doing right now?

Think about your answer carefully then scroll down.

Pragmatism 3

As if making a fly hook for one of his many salmon fishing trips on the boyne my grandad carfully bound the base of the ugly mole tightly and cut off the blood supply to the offending party. After a week the starved and shrivelled mole simply fell off. The newly beautified patient spread this story years later.

Sometimes the most simple action is the best course of action. Sometimes not taking action is the most enticing route. But remember life is very short. Take action. Glowers take action.

Pragmatism 2

The surgery was on the ground floor of his house on the Dublin Road in County Louth. In his home he was never far from a fishing rod or a spool of fishing line. (He was never far from a rifle or rounds either, but that is another story) after some light banter and discussion about the best course of action my grandfather reach into his desk drawer, mentally measured a small length of fishing line and snapped it with his hands. Glowers take action....to be continued.

Grandad 2

On the move he carried out an assesment, his mind working fluidly. Narrowing down the options as if instantaneously. He grabbed a hunting knife from his car and began gathering information from those around him as he cast his shoes off.

At the same time an onlooker arrived with a length of rope and proceeded to tie one end around my grandfathers waist. Before anyone in the gathering crowd could grab the loose end of the safety rope Dr. Alexander Moore was fighting his way down to the trapped worker below. Those above could only watch the bubbles rise, the rope move, the splash from his dive fall and the ripples from his hasty rough but functional dive fade.  Was he the only glower at the scene? Speed was of the essence.... to be continued

Grandad 1

http://www.glowpunk.com/

Grandad 1

I was very young when I heard this story first and its been a long time since it has been recounted, but because of the nature of the story and the actions taken by my grandfather it has stayed in my mind for over 20 years.

Arriving at the scene of an accident in a waterlogged quarry, my grandfather took action while others stood around frozen by panic and confusion. He was a glower. With youth on his side and a razor sharp mind, my grandfather leaped from his car. A man was trapped beneath some barrels in the chilly mirky quarry water deep below the surface.... to be continued.

www.glowpunk.com 'Fight the Power'

http://www.glowpunk.com/

Frog

I awoke one night in Liberia Africa to a strange noise. We were in a jungle area sleeping in tents underneath the moons glow. The perimeter of our patrol harbour was secure, or so we thought. Surely nothing could disturb us, or get at us, but something did. A small frog was making every effort to jump over my tent. Repeatedly he jumped against the man made wall of my one man tent. Each time he tried he slid back down to earth. At first my conditioned mind thought ‘silly creature,’ but I was wrong.

He was not failing, quite the contrary. Through his many attempts he was learning. He also succeeded in waking me up. Not just physically but mentally too. And who is to say with persistence he would not achieve his goal. He was taking a stand. He encountered something new and unknown that night and instead of going around it, ignoring it or pretending it didn’t exist he chose to question and struggle for his innate desires . That night froggy glowed!

www.glowpunk.com Flashback

http://www.glowpunk.com/

Life in the army flashback

It is freezing cold. It is raining hard. There is only enough light seeping through the leaking clouds to see the tip of the north arrow glowing on my compass. I’ve been carrying a backpack that is as heavy and as awkward as an old lady for 9 hours with no more than a total of 20 minutes rest. The strap from my weapon is cutting into my shoulder

But I am content. I am happy and I will persevere. I know neither the distance left to travel nor the distance I have walked. I know only that I am alive and that I am glowing…. I never liked late night TV anyway. When was the last time you glowed?
