The surgery was on the ground floor of his house on the Dublin Road in County Louth. In his home he was never far from a fishing rod or a spool of fishing line. (He was never far from a rifle or rounds either, but that is another story) after some light banter and discussion about the best course of action my grandfather reach into his desk drawer, mentally measured a small length of fishing line and snapped it with his hands.
