           Above the surface everybody was silent, nobody dared to speak for fear of jinxing the rescue attempt. Silence and inaction is always the safest option but glowers is it the right option. Below the surface, adrenaline, the overwhelming desire to save another human and the knowledge that he was running out of breath drove my grandad deeper into the cold dark waters of the quarry. Finally, after a number of dives ,exhausted and close to hypothermia Alex freed the workers lifeless body from the barrels below and managed to raise it to the surface near the quarry edge.

         To late to save the quarry worker's life, but not to late to set an example and shape the mind of a not yet born glowing grandson.
